Whitney’s Story Idea

Since I’m such a HUGE fan of recycling (joke), I’m going to use a topic that I’m also examining for my Journalism Research class. I figure, why not kill two birds with one stone? Or one bird with two stones, how ever you want to say it. Nonetheless, here it is:

With the sudden success of box office hits like ‘Juno’ and ‘Knocked Up’, teen girls have began to glorify the idea of having a baby.  Television is making it okay for them to have a baby because no one is telling them otherwise.  I also do not believe that it is a cultural issues; it is not just young minorities.  In my opinion, it is a social issue beyond just my control but it is something that needs to been examined closely.  Having Bristol Palin and Jamie-Lynn Spears smiling in the public eye, telling reporters and journalist that, ‘having a baby is fun’ is not the example that an already broken self-esteem generation of women, needs to hear.  Also the popularity of television shows such as MTV’s 16 & Pregnant, or The Secret Life of the American Teenager, and gossip magazines and blogs reporting daily about pregnant celebrities.  In my opinion this issue is more than cultural, but rather a social stigma that should be catered to.

Um. Yeah. But for this class maybe I’ll just do a profile or Q&A or… hell I don’t know.

I’m going to use these 6 photos as a summation of my trip to Huntington, WV for my grandmother’s funeral earlier this year. I am also going to use my own voice and commentary for the audio and maybe one musical track for the credits.

Hello all!

Whitney here! Currently I’m a Journalism major with a concentration in Magazine.

After graduation, I’m looking into a position that will allow me to pay my mother back for my education and if that doesn’t work out, I’ll be sleeping on her couch for the rest of my life! But seriously, I’m looking to get into the Adult Entertainment industry, focusing more on marketing, publication design, and web media (I don’t actually want to partake in the activity, lol). It may be a strange aspiration but, it’s recession proof!

As for the things that interest me… *thinks to self*… I’m 21, therefore I enjoy anything that allows me to drink while doing it!
