Tracy Galloway’s story idea
Since I will be in South Carolina over break, I plan to write a story that focuses on GS Magazine, a Myrtle Beach based magazine. I interned for this magazine this past summer for 2 months. A couple of months ago, the owner of this magazine decided to close it down but it has recently announced its reopening. The magazine was bought by a publishing company in Charleston but will be keeping a few of the same employees. I plan to talk to the owner, past employees who will not be rehired, and readers within the Grand Strand.
Slideshow Storyboard
My slideshow will be about South Carolina, where I spent the majority of my summer. While there, I took several day trips to places such as Charleston, Georgetown, and Myrtle Beach. My photos will include ones of friends, family, new people I met, and the beautiful places I saw. There is a lot of history in South Carolina so my voice over will document some of this for the viewers. I will also be adding James Taylor’s ‘Carolina in My Mind’ for pure cheesy-ness.
Aspiring designer
Hi everyone. My name is Tracy Galloway and I am a junior at Temple. I am a Magazine Journalism major. Since transferring here last fall, I have gotten very involved in the publications produced at Temple. Last year, I worked for the Temple News and the Templar Yearbook as a staff photographer. This year, I am a designer for the Temple News and planning on working for the yearbook again as well. I also am a member of Main Campus Program Board and part of the Creative Team where I make flyers and posters for campus events. This winter I plan to join Temple’s Snowboard Club. My other hobbies include soccer, tennis, and hanging out with friends.
After graduating in the spring of 2011 (hopefully), I hope to land a job at a big name magazine. However, I am aware of and open to working at several smaller magazines before I make it to that level. I hope to work as a graphic designer, laying out magazines and creating ads for clients. This past summer I had an internship at a magazine where I was in charge of creating ads. It was truly an awesome feeling to see my work on a news stand.
