Jared’s Story Idea

For my web story i want to write a profile on the Philadelphia Education Fund. The Philadelphia Education Fund is a non-profit organization that works with the school district to help raise student performance. As well, the Education Fund offers Philadelphia students college access programs, which prepare students for a career in college, and last dollar scholarships, which gives students financial aid in college for up to six years. Over its history the Education Fund has helped numerous district students perform better in school and reach college.

Jared Pass’s Story Board

The theme for my slideshow will be ” a night out on the town.”
My slideshow will be about a bar hoping trip to Olde City , and it will include major events of the night as well as exactly what a trip to the bar entails.

Slides 1-3: Shots of people getting ready as well as the trip to olde city on the subway
Slides 4-8: Shots of the nightlife in olde city and the outside of the bar. As well as pictures of the crowds outside the bars and the bouncers checking ids.
Slides 9-10: Pictures of paying the cover charge and paying for drinks. As well as pictures of the crowd inside the bar and the bar itself.
Slides 11-13: Shots of all the drinks ordered and people drinking. As well as pictures of how people progress throughout the night.
Slides 14-16: Shots of leaving the first bar and travelling to the next one.
Slides 17-20: Shots of everyone leaving the last bar and going home. As well, pictures of people arriving home and what time they pass out.

Introducing Myself

Hey,

My name is Jared Pass and I am a senior at Temple. I am a news/editorial journalism major. I have always been interested in newspapers and one day hope to have my own column. I love reading the news and especially political and sports news. Some of my other hobbies include playing video games, hanging out with friends and watching movies.

Last year had an internship that sent me to Edison High School to work with a teacher and her students on their first school newspaper. The internship was with Professor Odom and we worked in conjunction with the School District of Philadelphia’s ASAP after school program. I helped the students learn the basics of programs like InDesign and Photoshop. I also helped the students’ craft story ideas and discuss how they should go about writing the stories. The students were very approachable, motivated and ambitious. I recommend the class to anyone who is interested. I’m also hoping to find another internship this semester at a local newspaper.
