Story Idea

Posted in Uncategorized by meganlinkfield on November 19, 2009

Last year around this time, I profiled the largest food pantry in Delaware County, and looked at how it was being affected during the holiday season by the recession. For my project, I would like to revisit this story and do sort of a then-and-now update. From what I have heard the pantry is doing very well this year, in part because of its own fundraising initiatives, despite not much improvement in the economy.  I wanted to talk to the director at the pantry to see how far they have come in the past year and their plans for the future.

my site

My idea: For the layout of my site, I would like to have a blue and white color scheme with some flowers, perhaps. I’d like the design to simple and solely showcase the projects I’ve created.

My Storyboard

My slideshow will focus on the “buy fresh, buy local” theme by highlighting different farmer’s markets that have been recently popping up in and around the city.

My photos will consist of:

The different produce and goods being sold…fruits, vegetables, flowers, preserves, etc.

This will be the majority of photos.

Interspersed between them I will have pictures of the most interesting booths, as well as people browsing, buying, eating, and just interacting.

The slideshow itself will look something like this..

Hey Everyone,                                                                                                                                                                  me

My name is Megan and I’m a senior in the magazine sequence. I am also working towards a minor in business.

I love writing, but after graduating I’d like to pursue a more creative career in design. I wouldn’t mind staying local- I think there are a lot of interesting niche magazines in Philly- but I’m also open to completely up and moving across the country if the right opportunity comes along. I would also love to be able to work as a freelance writer on the side. I really enjoy traveling and experiencing new places, and I find it so interesting to read about cultures different from my own. Everyone has a unique story to tell, and I would love the opportunity to put some of them down in written form!

What else? I read multiple newspapers daily. I also enjoy shopping, cooking, movies and softball.  I’m kind of obsessed with my dog (she’s a Papillion), I have a habit of reading my horoscope every day (even though I think they’re silly) and my secret ambition is to be an author someday.
